Stamford resident Kevin O’Brien was spotted by police turning left out of Livingston Place onto West Putnam Avenue at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 9. While making the dangerous turn, vehicles traveling east were forced to come to a complete stop to avoid crashing into him.
Police said that during the subsequent traffic stop, O’Brien was “displaying signs of alcohol impairment. O’Brien was unable to perform Standardized Field Sobriety tests and he was arrested at the scene.
O’Brien was charged with illegal operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended license due to a previous DWI conviction. He was also charged with illegal operation of a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol for the second time and cited for making an improper turn without signaling.
O’Brien was released on $300 cash bond and is due in Stamford Court on Aug. 24 to answer the charges.
